College of American Pathologists, Oct-Dec Q-TRACKS 2006

Satellite Laboratory Services is an active participant in the College of American Pathologists (CAP) proficiency testing and monitoring programs. This includes CAP's Q-TRACKS, a series of quarterly performance management programs that provides objective benchmarks of our performance against other laboratories.

For the quarter ending Dec. 2006, CAP reported the following on Satellite Laboratory Services:
"Your monitor's performance indicator measure is in the best 10% of participating institutions for this quarter. Your test result correction rate (per 10,000 billable tests) is 1.2 for this quarter." The second best matching laboratory was 4.9.

Satellite Laboratory Services’ Quality Assurance Program is based on a Total Quality Management system that covers the areas of Quality, Accuracy and Improvement. These procedures and processes are regularly reviewed and improved on by our vice president of operations, director of quality assurance and clinical director.

Specimen Quality: Pre-analytical
An analysis of tests canceled or compromised due to poor specimen quality is produced, for each facility, in a monthly report. The Specimen Uniformity Performance Evaluation Report (SUPER) helps clients identify areas for improvement in their specimen collection efforts - reducing or eliminating the number of canceled or compromised tests.

Test Accuracy: Analytical
We participate in both the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the New York State Department of Health’s proficiency and performance monitoring programs. This includes third party blind proficiency testing and the CAP Q-Tracks program for performance benchmarks.

Continuous Improvement: Post-analytical
The entire process of testing services is monitored and recorded in a series of audits. This includes: calibration verification, patient test management, turnaround and amended reports in addition to the instrumentation precision audits.
